SUPERHERO WRITING

SLICER PLAN

Name: slicer
Power: good with weapons
Weakness: slowness
Weapon: enchanted blade
Enemies: Crazy clown and Tooth face
Power: laser vision

INTRODUCTION
There once lived an ordinary man named Bob. He often liked to go eeling but one day he stumbled across a pit of Eels. His friend thought it would be funny to push him in. It wasn't a bad thing as what was about to happen changed Bob’s life.

THE MIDDLE
While Bob was in the pit he was rapidly getting stung. Changes were happening to his body. Bob’s bones went from bone to steel. Green deviled eyes with lasers started to beam. With powers also came weaknesses. Bob was stung too many times by the eels causing him to become slow. This tore Bob into two. Half of him was happy with these new powers he possessed the other half not so happy and he felt nothing but frustration.

The name of the superhero was Slicer. Being a superhero sometimes means having enemies. Slicer had two. Slicer was getting annoyed with his enemies, Crazy clown and Tooth face. He was so annoyed that he bought a weapon. Weapon of choice an enchanted blade. Everyday he would keep on making this machine that would detect every step or movement they would make.

One day Crazy Clown built something so big and so strong it was even bigger and stronger than a nuclear bomb. So he waited until the right moment to set it off.  Meanwhile, Tooth face was also making the same thing but with a different design.

While all of this was going on, Slicer was busy. He wasn't making anything he was enchanting his blades they got enchanted so much that they turned into Diamond blades. But it was not only the blade it was Slicer as well. He was even stronger than a nuclear bomb.

Conclusion
Remember early on i created a tracking device well that's how I know we're there secret hideout was. They were prepared so they set off the nuclear missiles at the same time. They went high into the sky where nobody could see it and they both hit each other and blew up. Slicer arrested them both. And that was the end of Tooth face and Crazy Clown.

Moral of the story
Bad guys never win

Learning Logs

Learning logs or journals let students keep notes of their thoughts and feelings about their work. A log need be no more than a page.
Students will have some time in class to complete it.

. The most important thing I learned this week was.... Production

. What I found most interesting this week was… The performance of the production

. What I enjoyed most about this week was… was the Production because there was lots of  smile and laughs

. One thing that still puzzles me is… Nothing?

.What I need help with is … Writing

. What pleased me most was… Me saying my lines and try to force the heavens from the earth

. This week might have been more helpful for me if… I don't know?

For the birds

For the Birds - Animation bullying. KS1 KS
Discuss, 'What is bullying
Click here scroll down until you reach ‘For the Birds’.

I ask them what they think the video tells us.  Does it have a message -  The message is that what goes around comes back around.

Children will often say that the small birds were mean to the big bird because he is different - He is a lot different also it looked like the big bird didn’t even know that he was getting bullied by the little birds. He was HEAVY too!

This sparks the debate - Who are the mean ones =  The little birds  Why are they mean - Because he is different  Are any of the small birds worse than others - No

Is there a moral to the story?Yes there is what ever happened to the big bird it reflected on the little birds even badder. Could you give it a new title? The Odd Bird out . Write in your own words what you think this video is about and post to your Blog under Literacy.

Southern lights

Long ago there lived a young boy who always went to the beach to see the Southern Lights.

His name was Tane.

He wanted to see them all his life.

When he grew up he built a waka that could fit 72 men, and 2 were wise men. But Tane had to pack enough food and water to feed the men he designed the waka with paua shells.

All the young men went to sail with him to find the southern lights.

Halfway through some men got drowned and the waka got damaged.

When it got darker the southern lights come out and they got brighter.

So Tane the chief said "We're close to the Southern lights"  so they paddled harder.

They got closer and closer again but more men drowned by a wave and then it was only Tane

left on the Waka.

He had to finish it by himself.

But he was even closer when it was night again.

But when it was morning he had made a dream come true.

A Cold Crisp Day
1. Walking in the park 2. Watching the wind 3. Feeling happy
BLINK... BLINK... I lifted my wet woolen gloves up to my damp eyelashes and wiped the delicate snowflakes from my eyes. I could not feel my nose and my breath was like icicles forming in the air. I was cold. I was fed up! I wanted to go home. Mum and dad had forced me and my 2 sisters – Jenny and Mary to go for a Sunday afternoon walk in the park. I could see my footprints in the snowy path. Like a trail of breadcrumbs in the forest showing me the way home.
I stopped and listened to the magic around me. I could hear the wind howling like a stray dog hungry for a yummy bone. The branches of the trees that used to whisper and rustle had become bare, brown bones and the grass was covered with a white sparkling blanket. Then I saw a filmy web shimmer and glimmer beneath a pale sun. My breath was like silky soft smoke wafting up into the freezing cold air.
Suddenly there was mum with a big cup of liquid heaven. She handed it to me with an enormous smile on her face.
‘ Here you are Jo, this will keep you warm”
I slowly sipped the delicious liquid and felt it dripping and slipping down into my tummy like lava flowing down a mountainside. My wet woolen gloves were no longer frozen but warm. My breath had thawed and I was no longer fed up or cold. I was happy and contented.

Feedback about the plane

1. Take off 2. The window 3. The landing

The Window Mishap

page1image3896

We are racing along the runway at such a high speed. I bet a cheetah could not go as fast as us! I am sitting in a plane as small as a car! and we are running along the grey, thin strip of concrete. On my ears I am wearing a pair of black, shiny earphones that make me look like Mickey Mouse. They allow me to listen and talk to the pilot.

“this is so cool”
I whisper as I lookout of the window and watch the ground go whizzing by. The plane is screaming as it runs along the track – suddenly we are airborne and the ground is getting smaller and smaller.

Whoosh, I feel like a bird flying high in the sky. My feathers are soaring and the wind is rushing through my hair. The window has suddenly opened like the door of a cage and all I can feel is the cool, cold air blowing all over me.

“HELP”
I yell as the fresh air nearly blows me out of my seat. Mr. Arnold turns around and smiles. The pilot calmly shuts the window and we continue on our trip.

“Phew that was close!”

In the wink of an eye we are nearing Napier airport. The pilot tells us to look out of the window. I lean over and there is a blue whale swimming in the beautiful, calm ocean. It looks so tiny. Its tail is crashing and bashing the water and making the ocean foam like a bubble bath. It is fantastic. Then I see the airport. The control tower is standing tall like a giant and the run way is getting closer and closer. My ears pop and I can see the grass rushing up to meet me. Then as gently as a feather floating on a summer breeze, we land. Safe and sound.

Feedback about the plane

It was really cool how it said it was blasting of the runway and it was the size of the car And how it said the ocean looked like a bubble Bath from the whale.

ANZAC DAY

ANZAC Day
What is ANZAC day ?
ANZAC day is a national holiday for us to remember the NZ and Australia army corps that fought at Gallipoli in World War I. Gallipoli is remembered because it is when New Zealand established its own identity as a country.
Gallipoli
The ANZAC troops landed on the beaches of the Gallipoli Peninsula, in Turkey on 25th April 1915.  They were meant to take over the peninsula so the their allies could control the Dardanelles Strait.  It did not work, there was bad planning and it was difficult to land supplies and back on the beach.  They landed in the wrong place.  The Turkish forces were up high and were able to stop the ANZAC ‘s and the British from making their way to the top.  They withdrew in December in 1915. 8556 New Zealanders fought at Gallipoli, 2721 died and 4725 were wounded.
What does the letters of ANZAC stand for?
Australia and New Zealand Army Corps.
When was the first ANZAC day?
The first ANZAC day was in 1916 25th April.
ANZAC Ceremony.
It has two major parts the Dawn service and later in the morning, The Anzac parade.
The Dawn Service is before dawn and starts with a march by returned service men before dawn to a local war memorial. Then a short service follows with a prayer, hymns (including Kipling’s ‘Recessional’ or ‘Lest we forget’) and a dedication that ends with the 4th verse of Laurence Binyon’s For the Fallen -
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun in the morning
We will remember them.”
Then the Last Post is played followed by a minute’s silence and the reveille. A brief address follows, the hymn ‘Recessional’ is sung, A prayer and the singing of the national anthem.
The Anzac Parade takes place later in the morning. The Returned Service men wear their medals and march behind banners.  The veterans are joined by other people like armed forces, red cross, cadets. The march goes to the local war memorial.  Another service takes place.  After these services many veterans retire to the Returned and Services’ Association (RSA) to unwind.

Facts:
Thousands lost their lives in Gallipoli, 87000 Turks, 44000 men from France and the British Empire including 8500 Australians and 2721 New Zealanders.
ANZAC biscuits was known as an Anzac wafer or tile and was part of the rations given to the soldiers. They were given instead of bread as they lasted longer.
Rugby & Rugby League games are played on ANZAC day to help celebrate the day.
ANZAC also includes officers from Britain, Ireland, India, Zion, Ceylon and the Pacific Islands
The Red Poppy is the symbol of war remembrance around the world, for those who died in war or who still serve. *The red or Flanders poppy was the first to grow and bloom in the mud and soil of Flanders. * *
The last surviving ANZAC, Alec Campbell died on May 16, 2002.
The Uniform worn by ANZAC Soldiers

Some weapons used were Machine Guns, .303 Enfield Rifles, .455 Webley Revolvers, MK1 Grenade, Naval guns when there, Short Range Trench Mortars and homemade bombs.  These bombs were made from empty tins and filled with nails, shell, barbed wire, scraps of metal and an explosive charge. A fuse was fitted through the top of the tin which would be lite with a match.

If you think no!! Your wrong they do.Red pandas aren't even pandas they are actually like a weasel and a racoon joined together . They are only named red pandas because of the markings on their face. Pandas mostly only breed in march or may. If you didn't think red pandas were dangerous I'm sorry to say this but they are because every wild animal is.*

The desaster

The desaster
Vroom vroom the plane is starting the engine everyone on board the doors shut buckle in its going to be long trip.  6 hours later we got half way there. The pilot got up to go to the toilet and thier was a snake aaaahhhh as quick as a flash he got flusheddown the toilet and come out the botom of the plane then something really freaky happened if you got bitten you turn into a snake include  the funture and the wings. Before you know It the wings were even snakes their venoms teeth were smashing throw the windows so I quickly got a parechute and jumped of luckily I jumped off just before it blue up but I was still in trouble because there was company the snakes weren't just ordinary snakes they were ugly but smart because they were holding tales and it formed a parechute so I had to get smarter I went to feel my pocket what's this a ham I could use this for them to let go of the tales and they might split up as soon as they saw it they let go so I threw it away and it worked they went for it. I landed on a island it had lots of trees but no people but about 10 meters away I saw a hamer and a human body Skelton right by it I really wish I didint throw that ham away and I really wish I had some more food as we'll and it started raning  food. That's when I found out It was a I inchanted island it was amazing I wished for a house I wanted for a bit then a jeany come up and said you only had 2 wishes you have used them all just before i said a word he was gone.
