The Compost Heap


 What is the name of the useful bacteria in the compost heap? Aerobic   
What are the three ways bacteria get into the compost heap ? bacteria is already in the soil and bacteria gets carried by the wind and bacteria is in the scraps and earthworms.
 What job do the small creatures have in the compost heap Who are the real workers in the compost heap? The bacteria because they eat through all the scraps and devolve to help the compost why are they the real workers? Because they eat all through all the scraps.
 
Why are fungi vucume cleaners? Because they eat most of it but leave some for the bacteria.

SUPERHERO WRITING



SLICER PLAN

Name: slicer 
Power: good with weapons
Weakness: slowness 
Weapon: enchanted blade
Enemies: Crazy clown and Tooth face
Power: laser vision 

INTRODUCTION
There once lived an ordinary man named Bob. He often liked to go eeling but one day he stumbled across a pit of Eels. His friend thought it would be funny to push him in. It wasn't a bad thing as what was about to happen changed Bob’s life. 

THE MIDDLE
While Bob was in the pit he was rapidly getting stung. Changes were happening to his body. Bob’s bones went from bone to steel. Green deviled eyes with lasers started to beam. With powers also came weaknesses. Bob was stung too many times by the eels causing him to become slow. This tore Bob into two. Half of him was happy with these new powers he possessed the other half not so happy and he felt nothing but frustration.

The name of the superhero was Slicer. Being a superhero sometimes means having enemies. Slicer had two. Slicer was getting annoyed with his enemies, Crazy clown and Tooth face. He was so annoyed that he bought a weapon. Weapon of choice an enchanted blade. Everyday he would keep on making this machine that would detect every step or movement they would make. 

One day Crazy Clown built something so big and so strong it was even bigger and stronger than a nuclear bomb. So he waited until the right moment to set it off.  Meanwhile, Tooth face was also making the same thing but with a different design.




While all of this was going on, Slicer was busy. He wasn't making anything he was enchanting his blades they got enchanted so much that they turned into Diamond blades. But it was not only the blade it was Slicer as well. He was even stronger than a nuclear bomb. 

Conclusion
Remember early on i created a tracking device well that's how I know we're there secret hideout was. They were prepared so they set off the nuclear missiles at the same time. They went high into the sky where nobody could see it and they both hit each other and blew up. Slicer arrested them both. And that was the end of Tooth face and Crazy Clown. 

Moral of the story
Bad guys never win

My heart s pounding I it's my last lap I'm 20 m away I can win this is the sprint 2 people are right behind me I did it I come first I fell do the ground with happiness. I can't believe I did it I got given my green card I was the only one to come first in takahe!!!

Children will often say that the small birds were mean to the big bird because he is different - He is a lot different also it looked like the big bird didn’t even know that he was getting bullied by the little birds. He was HEAVY too!

This sparks the debate - Who are the mean ones =  The little birds  Why are they mean - Because he is different  Are any of the small birds worse than others - No

Camp

We arrived at school in our mufti in the morning. To do our first camp challenge in the hall which was master chef.We got in our groups to talk about what ingredients we were going to use but it was really loud so we couldn't really hear. I was a bit nervous because I Wanted to win. The ingredients were onions eggs whipped cream sugar oranges sausages spaghetti potatoes bread and grapes I was the onion peeler and chopper it was fun but it stung my eyes I had to Peel and chop 1 and a half onions then we cracked the eggs  in the bowl then we wait. then we put half an onion in the egg bowl then mixed it together then we put the sausages in the pan and we put the omelet in the other pan while that was cooking I was making the fruit salad with the oranges grapes and apple sugar Then we started to get the stuff out of the pans to dish up we got our knife and fork and started eating then we tidied up and got in our cars when we arrived mrs Hardaker said number off 1 2 3 4 5 6 7! 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 and keeped on going on till we reached 27 . Mrs Hardarker said its time to do some rock climbing so we followed her into the room wow! I shouted that's  really high but we had to have a practice round first so we could get our confidence up and believe it or not  it actually worked. So i tried to get up the first time but i failed but on the very last one I got to the top so i did every single one again so i got up on all of them accept the chimney.

Southern lights

Long ago there lived a young boy who always went to the beach to see the Southern Lights.


His name was Tane.


He wanted to see them all his life.


When he grew up he built a waka that could fit 72 men, and 2 were wise men. But Tane had to pack enough food and water to feed the men he designed the waka with paua shells.


All the young men went to sail with him to find the southern lights.


Halfway through some men got drowned and the waka got damaged.


When it got darker the southern lights come out and they got brighter.


So Tane the chief said "We're close to the Southern lights"  so they paddled harder.


They got closer and closer again but more men drowned by a wave and then it was only Tane


left on the Waka.


He had to finish it by himself.


But he was even closer when it was night again.


But when it was morning he had made a dream come true.

In china there was a wall that collapsed in Qingdao from a big rain storm and it fell on a makeshift house that a bunch of workers were that made bikes there were 40 people in the house and 18 people got killed and 3 got injured. The wall collapse caused landslides and floods.

Fact file about Galileo

Galileo was a famous Italian scientist who opened the eyes of the world to a new way of thinking about the work of the solar system.

Galileo was born in Pisa on the 15 of February 1564 he died on the 8th of January 1642.

Galileo enrolled to be a medical sergeant but instead he just studied on mathematics

When Galileo first made a telescope it was only 3 times better than our eye sight but his last one he made is 30 times better than our eye site.

With our telescopes Galileo was able observe the sky's
To find Jupiter But he did not achieve it into 1610 he only achieved it because he put 4 big objects by Jupiter. But the principle of science didn't agree so Galileo had to convince him let him.

A Cold Crisp Day
1. Walking in the park 2. Watching the wind 3. Feeling happy
BLINK... BLINK... I lifted my wet woolen gloves up to my damp eyelashes and wiped the delicate snowflakes from my eyes. I could not feel my nose and my breath was like icicles forming in the air. I was cold. I was fed up! I wanted to go home. Mum and dad had forced me and my 2 sisters – Jenny and Mary to go for a Sunday afternoon walk in the park. I could see my footprints in the snowy path. Like a trail of breadcrumbs in the forest showing me the way home.
I stopped and listened to the magic around me. I could hear the wind howling like a stray dog hungry for a yummy bone. The branches of the trees that used to whisper and rustle had become bare, brown bones and the grass was covered with a white sparkling blanket. Then I saw a filmy web shimmer and glimmer beneath a pale sun. My breath was like silky soft smoke wafting up into the freezing cold air.
Suddenly there was mum with a big cup of liquid heaven. She handed it to me with an enormous smile on her face.
‘ Here you are Jo, this will keep you warm”
I slowly sipped the delicious liquid and felt it dripping and slipping down into my tummy like lava flowing down a mountainside. My wet woolen gloves were no longer frozen but warm. My breath had thawed and I was no longer fed up or cold. I was happy and contented.

The Window Mishap

We are racing along the runway at such a high speed. I bet a cheetah could not go as fast as us! I am sitting in a plane as small as a car! and we are running along the grey, thin strip of concrete. On my ears I am wearing a pair of black, shiny earphones that make me look like Mickey Mouse. They allow me to listen and talk to the pilot.

“this is so cool”
I whisper as I lookout of the window and watch the ground go whizzing by. The plane is screaming as it runs along the track – suddenly we are airborne and the ground is getting smaller and smaller.

Whoosh, I feel like a bird flying high in the sky. My feathers are soaring and the wind is rushing through my hair. The window has suddenly opened like the door of a cage and all I can feel is the cool, cold air blowing all over me.

“HELP”
I yell as the fresh air nearly blows me out of my seat. Mr. Arnold turns around and smiles. The pilot calmly shuts the window and we continue on our trip.

“Phew that was close!”

In the wink of an eye we are nearing Napier airport. The pilot tells us to look out of the window. I lean over and there is a blue whale swimming in the beautiful, calm ocean. It looks so tiny. Its tail is crashing and bashing the water and making the ocean foam like a bubble bath. It is fantastic. Then I see the airport. The control tower is standing tall like a giant and the run way is getting closer and closer. My ears pop and I can see the grass rushing up to meet me. Then as gently as a feather floating on a summer breeze, we land. Safe and sound.

ANZAC DAY

ANZAC Day 
What is ANZAC day ? 
ANZAC day is a national holiday for us to remember the NZ and Australia army corps that fought at Gallipoli in World War I. Gallipoli is remembered because it is when New Zealand established its own identity as a country.
Gallipoli
The ANZAC troops landed on the beaches of the Gallipoli Peninsula, in Turkey on 25th April 1915.  They were meant to take over the peninsula so the their allies could control the Dardanelles Strait.  It did not work, there was bad planning and it was difficult to land supplies and back on the beach.  They landed in the wrong place.  The Turkish forces were up high and were able to stop the ANZAC ‘s and the British from making their way to the top.  They withdrew in December in 1915. 8556 New Zealanders fought at Gallipoli, 2721 died and 4725 were wounded.
 What does the letters of ANZAC stand for?
Australia and New Zealand Army Corps.
When was the first ANZAC day? 
The first ANZAC day was in 1916 25th April.
ANZAC Ceremony.
It has two major parts the Dawn service and later in the morning, The Anzac parade. 
The Dawn Service is before dawn and starts with a march by returned service men before dawn to a local war memorial. Then a short service follows with a prayer, hymns (including Kipling’s ‘Recessional’ or ‘Lest we forget’) and a dedication that ends with the 4th verse of Laurence Binyon’s For the Fallen -
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun in the morning
We will remember them.”
Then the Last Post is played followed by a minute’s silence and the reveille. A brief address follows, the hymn ‘Recessional’ is sung, A prayer and the singing of the national anthem.
 The Anzac Parade takes place later in the morning. The Returned Service men wear their medals and march behind banners.  The veterans are joined by other people like armed forces, red cross, cadets. The march goes to the local war memorial.  Another service takes place.  After these services many veterans retire to the Returned and Services’ Association (RSA) to unwind.


Facts:
Thousands lost their lives in Gallipoli, 87000 Turks, 44000 men from France and the British Empire including 8500 Australians and 2721 New Zealanders.
ANZAC biscuits was known as an Anzac wafer or tile and was part of the rations given to the soldiers. They were given instead of bread as they lasted longer.
Rugby & Rugby League games are played on ANZAC day to help celebrate the day.
ANZAC also includes officers from Britain, Ireland, India, Zion, Ceylon and the Pacific Islands
The Red Poppy is the symbol of war remembrance around the world, for those who died in war or who still serve. *The red or Flanders poppy was the first to grow and bloom in the mud and soil of Flanders. * *
The last surviving ANZAC, Alec Campbell died on May 16, 2002.

Some weapons used were Machine Guns, .303 Enfield Rifles, .455 Webley Revolvers, MK1 Grenade, Naval guns when there, Short Range Trench Mortars and homemade bombs.  These bombs were made from empty tins and filled with nails, shell, barbed wire, scraps of metal and an explosive charge. A fuse was fitted through the top of the tin which would be lite with a match.

Red pandas

Red pandas eat such things as bamboo,bird eggs,leaves,berries,blossoms and plants.
Relations. a red panda is related to raccoons and bears the regular and the giant panda.
How long do Red Pandas live for. For most of the red pandas can live for Is about 10 to 8 years but the longest is 14 years old.Life cycle. The Red Panda is pregnant for about 134 days and has one to four babies.  The babies stay in the nest for about 90 days and stay close to their mum till next mating season.  When its a baby the mothers feed it milk. To make milk for the cubs she has to eat about 3 or 4 times more than she does normally. They reach adult size in about 12 months.

Enemies. the enemies of the red panda is mountain lions,leopards  but the main enemy is humans because we cut down the forest the live in.

Red pandas live in the cool temperate bamboo forests in Sichuan, Yunnan, and Xizang provinces in China, in the foothills of the Himalayas in Nepal and Bhutan, and in northern Myanmar. They share part of their range with giant pandas.




Facts. did you know that pandas have nearly been extinct how sad. There are fewer than 10,00.00 Adult Pandas They are called red pandas because of the colour of their fur. They are about 42 inches long.  They weigh between 7 and 14 pounds.  Their fur covers their whole bodies including the soles of their feet.  They use their bushy tails to balance when they are in the trees and to keep warm in winter by covering themselves.Do you think that regular pandas like red pandas? If you think no!! Your wrong they do.Red pandas aren't even pandas they are actually like a weasel and a racoon joined together . They are only named red pandas because of the markings on their face. Pandas mostly only breed in march or may. If you didn't think red pandas were dangerous I'm sorry to say this but they are because every wild animal is.*

The desaster

The desaster 
Vroom vroom the plane is starting the engine everyone on board the doors shut buckle in its going to be long trip.  6 hours later we got half way there. The pilot got up to go to the toilet and thier was a snake aaaahhhh as quick as a flash he got flusheddown the toilet and come out the botom of the plane then something really freaky happened if you got bitten you turn into a snake include  the funture and the wings. Before you know It the wings were even snakes their venoms teeth were smashing throw the windows so I quickly got a parechute and jumped of luckily I jumped off just before it blue up but I was still in trouble because there was company the snakes weren't just ordinary snakes they were ugly but smart because they were holding tales and it formed a parechute so I had to get smarter I went to feel my pocket what's this a ham I could use this for them to let go of the tales and they might split up as soon as they saw it they let go so I threw it away and it worked they went for it. I landed on a island it had lots of trees but no people but about 10 meters away I saw a hamer and a human body Skelton right by it I really wish I didint throw that ham away and I really wish I had some more food as we'll and it started raning  food. That's when I found out It was a I inchanted island it was amazing I wished for a house I wanted for a bit then a jeany come up and said you only had 2 wishes you have used them all just before i said a word he was gone.

Dear diary 
I've had a very tough week because that little theif Jack he is always stealing my presures chicken and my golden eggs and that is of anouth of this usens .     
I'm not going to put up with it no more it's time to put a stop to this! It's about time I'm going to make somthing that will stop him or I will tell the giant guards to stop this usens or I will do it my self. I went to ask the guards but they said no way hoseay! So I will have to do my self I will make somthing that no one has ever seen before not even me it is called the flamer hater 5000 it shots out fire. I tried it on a rag doll but he just turned into ash so then I asked the giant mour if I could use a dead human and he said fine. So I went of to try it out it was only his hair left  yeeess yes I sad now that little theif Jack will never be able to steall my golden eggs again so I put it on the door stepp bye ops I nelly forgot to turn it on to human mode other wise my wife might of died how silly of me.

What is hearing? Hearing allows you to hear sounds and noises. You need to keep your ear wax in your ear so it can block all of the water and bugs and all kinds of other stuff. Decibels are the measurementof your sound if the sound goes higher you will only be able to listen to it for a less amount of time E.X 85 decibels you are allowed to listen for 8hours 89 decibels you are allowed to listen to for 4hours but if it is 160 decibels you are going to be deaf straight away. Inside your ear you shouldn't put anything in your  ear unless your doctor tells you to other wise you can put somthing through your ear drum by accident but luckily they grow back but they won't be as good as the first ear drum.

Crocodiles and alligators

 Crocodiles and  alligators like to eat fresh juicy meat do you think it is cruel if you do you’re not right they need to eat so they survive.
How much teeth Crocodiles have
Alligators and crocodiles have 74 to 80 teeth but in a lifetime they have 2000 to 3000 teeth now that's impressive.


How many types 
There are 23 types of crocodiles and alligators they are split into 3 family's and we are only 1 family wow.


Were crocodiles live
Alligators and crocodiles live in wetlands such as rivers/swamps and tropical rainforest in the  country's Untied States and south-eastern but they are found mostly in China.

Once apon a time there lived three little lambs at a giant weasel. The three lambs mum got taken away the three little lambs got so sad they went and made a house. The first little lamb Harry went to a man that was sticking ferns to a black jersey so Harry asked for some ferns and the kind man said certinly so the lamb went off in is happy little world  and made a house of ferns.and the weasel said let me come in. Not by the hair of my skinny skin skin then I will wease and I will sneeze  and I will blow your house down. So he did and shoved him down a rabbit hole and walked off. The second little lamb John asked a lovely kind women that was making   jewelry out of pawa shells so John asked if he could have some to make a house and she said of course so he went off in his lala land and made a house of pawa and the weasel came along and said let me in not by the hair of my skinny skin skin then I will wease and I will sneeze and I'll blow your house down so he did and shoved him in a rabbit hole. Guess who came along the third little lamb came along named  Sam look over there he said I found someone with rocks so Sam asked for some rocks why not said the man so Sam got a load and waved good bye it took time to make a house but the hard work paid off but just like the other siblings the weasel came over and said let me in not by the hair of my skinny skin skin then I'll wease and I will sneeze and I will blow your house down he tried so hard but it didn't work how about we pick some pumpkins form mrs goodys garden at 10.00am sure said the lamb but the lamb was a smart little honey bun he got up at 9.00am and picked some pumpkins the weasel was furious so the weasel said how about we go to the dairy for some hokey pokey at 9.00am, fine so the lamb got up at 8.00am and went but the weasel came along early too, as fast as he could the lamb jumped in a tin and rolled after the weasel the weasel screamed of fright and ran away so the little lamb called pest control to catch the weasel.  So the weasel said watch out I'm coming down the chimney, more like  in the cage said the lamb.  Thanks said the lamb to the pest controller.
